BARSCAPADES IN ACTION
Offbeat Brewery
About the Venue
2010 - 2018 I started Offbeat Brewery from scratch single-handedly with a vision of making amazing beers, having discovered my love of hop monsters (reference Failford Inn) and greatly influenced by the craft beer movement that was prolific through America, ahead of the UK.
After some initial resistance from the landlord I set up regular open nights, #FirstyFriday, on the first Friday of the month which became a monthly institution for many. The bar offering grew beyond our own beers to include ciders, wines and a selection of spirits. This in turn led to the development of the Berries, Beans & Beer festival.
Services
Brewing, sales, marketing, event management
Challenge
To create great beers and a great venue in a town with a minimal beer offering.
Solution
Delivering flavour packed beers that weren’t scared of being different and standing out from the crowd. A brewery tap that opened to the public with a chance to see how and where the beers were made with local bands. Growing the brand nationally across beer festivals and outlets through supply chains.
Results
A sheaf of award certificates for the brewery including Silver in Champion Beer Of Britain.
A busy, established brewery and tap room that sold in 2018.
